Argentine President Javier Milei Meets with Chile's President-Elect José Antonio Kast

Argentine President Javier Milei received Chile's President-Elect José Antonio Kast in Buenos Aires. Both leaders discussed bilateral relations and outlined a plan for cooperation in security, economy, and trade. Milei congratulated Kast on his election victory and confirmed his attendance at the Chilean presidential inauguration.

Buenos Aires, December 16 (NA) – President Javier Milei received Chile's elected president, José Antonio Kast, at the Casa Rosada this Tuesday, fulfilling his campaign promise to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Following the meeting, Milei approached the fence separating the Government Palace from the Plaza de Mayo and emphasized: "Everything is going to be okay. We are going to have a very good relationship".

According to the Argentine News Agency, the head of state congratulated the Republican candidate on his resounding victory over the official candidate Jeannett Jara in the second round of the election and wished him success in his administration.

"What a victory! Congratulations, it was glorious," the president summarized as he greeted him.

"An example," the Chilean responded, who also praised "the staunch defense" that Karina Milei professes for the head of state.

In the first encounter, both presidents outlined a roadmap for when Kass assumes the Presidency and established priorities in regional and border security, the fight against transnational organized crime, the promotion of trade and investment, and cooperation in key economic sectors.

"With this objective, the presidents instructed their work teams to initiate contacts to resume meetings of the main mechanisms of the bilateral agenda in order to advance the construction and consolidation of a fruitful and modern relationship that enhances the economic development and prosperity of our countries," revealed from the libertarian administration in a press release.

In turn, they indicated that the guiding principles that will "guide" this new stage in the bilateral relationship will be "the defense of freedom, life, and private property, in a spirit of cooperation and mutual trust, and with the firm political will to inaugurate a sustained path of growth for both countries and greater security in the region".

Kast left for the Intercontinental Hotel to complete the second part of his agenda, which includes a lunch with Argentine businessmen and a meeting with Chilean Ambassador José Antonio Viera-Gallo.
